New Covered 105m Sunkid Wonder Carpet Installed on the “Resterhöhe” Peak in the Kitzbühel Ski Region

This season the “Panoramabahn Kitzbüheler Alpen” ski region near the famous resort of Kitzbühel presented itself bigger and better than ever before!

This new 8-man gondola comprises two sections and offers guests comfortable and swift direct access to the main Kitzbühel ski area. The experience begins before you’ve even got onto the lift itself, in the main bottom lift station at an altitude of 807m above sea level. With its artistically decorated walls and art hanging lights the spacious interior of the entrance hall is more reminiscent of a modern art gallery than a ski lift-station.

In the bottom lift-station are located a bar, ski shop and ski depot as well as the “Skischule Stefan” ski school – everything you need for a fun, safe and relaxing day on the pistes! Furthermore, an artificial mini-lake has been created to store water used in the artificial snow-making process. Boasting a volume of up to 180,000 m³, the lake stores enough water to cover 85 hectares with artificial snow.

Covered 105m Sunkid Wonder Carpet at 2,000m

Having ascended to the top lift-station on the 8-man “Panoramabahn” lift, winter sports guests in the Kitzbühel ski region find themselves with a great view of the new fully-covered Wonder Carpet conveyor. The hard-wearing cover not only protects guests from wind and inclement weather along exposed parts of the conveyor, it also makes the maintenance and servicing of the conveyor considerably easier.

The new conveyor was constructed principally for skiing and snowboarding beginners taking their first turns. The facility is monitored closely by a member of the “Skischule Stefan” ski school. Positioned at the end of the conveyor, the monitor can see all the way along the cover right through to the entrance area, thus allowing for a safe and efficient monitoring of the entire facility by just one person.

The management of the ski area decided on the installation of an Endless Conveyor equipped with a Rufftop running surface. As there are no plans to deconstruct the 105m conveyor after the end of the winter season, the facility was constructed using the newly-developed Permanent Construction. The terrain on which the conveyor is constructed has an average gradient of 14% and an 11 KW drive motor means that the facility boasts a theoretical maximum transport capacity of 1,400 guests per hour.

Manager of the “Panoramabahn Kitzbüheler Alpen GmbH” lift company, Franz Wieser, first learned of Sunkid online: “Sunkid was immediately our first choice when it came to the construction of a new conveyor. Within our branch the company has an excellent reputation for providing good service and high-quality products.”
