Sunkid’s Rise to the Top Continues Down Under
The Falls Creek ski area is located approximately 300 km from Melbourne, in south-east Australia.
The longest of the six Wonder Carpets was installed in April, perfectly timed to coincide with the start of the Australian winter season. The lift, which primarily transports guests of the resort’s ski school, measures a total of 114m and is covered along its entire length by a stunning Sunkid conveyor cover. The Wonder Carpet is driven by a powerful 11 KW motor and is equipped with the tried and tested “Blue Eye” running service, giving the conveyor a potential maximal transport capacity of 1400 skiers or 2000 pedestrians per hour.
The conveyor can transport not only guests with or without winter sports equipment but all of the latest alternative snowsports equipment as well.
The Sunkid conveyor cover protects guests from wind, cold and all forms of precipitation and significantly reduces the maintenance requirements of the facility. For example, thanks to the cover, there is no need to clear snow from the lift each morning before the start of the skiing day. With its modular construction, the lift masters convex and concave terrain profiles with ease. The sidewalls were intentionally designed to be vertical and not rounded so as to avoid the danger of the cover being damaged during piste preparation or similar activities.
