Swiss Kids Thrilled with Ski Area in Madrisa
Twelve years ago, back in 1995, the Swiss ski resort of Madrisa near Klosters showed that even the smallest guests to the region have a big say.
Today, the children’s ski area in Madrisa has grown to cover a huge 11 hectares and is used on average by 400 children each day. Four Sunkid Wonder Carpets installed near the top station of the “Madrisabahn” lift at 1,900m above sea level ensure that the area’s youngest guests are transported swiftly and safely back up the slope.
The ski schools in the area cooperate closely with the resort management and therefore also use the children’s ski area for their ski lessons.
A further attraction in the area is the Sunkid Rotondo carousel. Thanks to this facility, children can easily learn the different ski techniques or simply let themselves be dragged around on snowtubes! Located next to the carousel is a flat 21-metre conveyor which gives the very youngest children the chance to take their first steps on skis. A connecting conveyor measuring 60 metres was installed at the top of this short conveyor to transport children up a 10% slope to reach the longest of the four Wonder Carpets.
Installed this winter, the longest Wonder Carpet conveyor in the area measures a total of 120 metres and is equipped with the Sunkid chain technology. This conveyor climbs a slope with an average gradient of 20% and, driven by the power of an 11 KW motor, gives access together with another 42-metre conveyor to a high plateau.
The installation of the Sunkid conveyors means that the resort can now use this plateau during the summer months as well, since the Wonder Carpets are ideal for transporting pedestrians, disabled persons and parents with buggies up to the plateau. During the summer, the plateau will be home to water games, a play tower and water slides, tree houses, petting zoos as well as many other attractions.
