A Summer Tour through Fichtelchen’s Adventure Forest
The owners of Fichtelchen’s Kids’ World, Katja and Michael Süß, always do their very best to ensure that each and every guest has a truly unforgettable holiday in Oberwiesenthal. To promote summer tourism in the region, they have developed a range of fun-packed attractions: guests can choose from activities including alpaca trekking, climbing in the highrope garden, traditional Red Indian parties and even night-time rides on the Fichtelberg suspension railway. A varied, fun-filled package for children from three to twelve years of age!
The latest highlight is the newly installed Sunkid summer tubing facility. Boys and girls of all ages (and even some brave adults!) can take on the challenge and experience the thrill of whizzing down the 50-metre track on specially designed tubes. After an initial steep section, the run leads through Fichtelchen’s Adventure Forest before coming to a safe and controlled stop at the end of the course.
The management of the local ski school also decided to install a 51-metre Sunkid Wonder Carpet to save guests the long and tiring walk back up to the top after each run. Driven by a 7.5 kW motor, the Sunkid Wonder Carpet has a maximum transport capacity of 1400 guests per hour, meaning that Fichtelchen’s Adventure Forest is perfectly equipped to host large parties and events.
Winter in Oberwiesenthal: Fichtelchen’s Kids’ World
The motto of the ‘Vereinigte Skischule Oberwiesenthal’ is “learn to ski the fun, safe and quick way!”, with the focus on motivating and helping new generations of younger skiers. As well as traditional ski, snowboard and cross-country skiing tuition, the area’s weekend programme also offers guests the chance to discover some of the latest trendy snow sports such as snowbikes and snowfoxes. As well as expert tuition under the watchful eye of qualified instructors, kids can also look forward to other activities including a large children’s disco with Fichtelchen and his friends, a torch-lit adventure hike, night skiing and tobogganing and, to top off a great weekend, the thrilling guests’ race at the end of each course.
A central location, safe terrain, excellent floodlit slopes and modern snow-making facilities make Fichtelchen’s Kids’ World the perfect place to give children their first taste of how much fun snow sports can be! A further highlight is the area’s Sunkid Rotondo carousel – the ideal way to introduce those taking their first steps on snow to the basics of skiing. However, it is the four Sunkid Wonder Carpets installed in the region that the director of the ski school in Oberwiesenthal is especially proud of.
The increasing length of the Wonder Carpets (12, 21, 36 and 51 m) means that even region’s very youngest guests have the chance to learn the basics of skiing without having the long, tiring walk back up to the top of the piste. The shortest of the four conveyors, measuring 12 metres, is used to teach children taking their first tentative steps on snow. Children then progress onto either the 21-metre or 36-metre Wonder Carpet to work on their skiing technique. And, for those who have outgrown even these two conveyors, there is the 51-metre Wonder Carpet located in the centre of the Kids’ World.
The snow sport instructors and Fichtelchen himself, the region’s fun mascot, ensure that children and teenagers alike have maximum fun skiing in the Fichtelberg area. For those looking to venture further afield, the instructors from the ski school will be pleased to accompany guests to the nearby Keilberg ski area, just over the boarder in the Czech Republic, where modern lifts, a funpark, cross-country skiing trail and flood-lit slopes await.
