More than double the capacity thanks to the height-adjustable Mega Comfort Star
Raten (CH): A height-adjustable Sunkid Mega Comfort Star replaces a BORER rope lift after 30 years of operation.
The Raten Ski Lift is located high above the Ägerisee Lake in central Switzerland, where operator and winter sports fans in the small family ski resort relied on a BORER Star Lift over the past 30 winters. The model can absolutely be called the “grandfather” of the Comfort Star Lift now sold by Sunkid BORER. Over the long period, the unit performed its duties as reliably as a Swiss watch and from a technical point of view would certainly have operated many more seasons. However, as far the comfort of climbing aids is concerned much has changed over the past decades in terms of functionality and design. The operators of the Skilift Raten AG wanted to take these developments into accounts and therefore decided to invest in a Sunkid Mega Comfort Star.
The entire planning and implementation of the turnkey project was done by Borer (Sunkid representative in Switzerland). The all-inclusive package was supplemented with products from the Sunkid Sunny Stuff product line.
Thanks to the extension of the Sunkid Mega Comfort Star to the current 984 feet (300m), the dimensions of the slope could be nearly doubled. The lift itself is equipped with the flexible rope-fixed platters. These adjust to the size of the user “and as such, kids and adults can use the lift at the same time with no loss in comfort.
And not only skiers, but also snowboarders,” Mr Inglin adds, feeling confident that he is well equipped for the future. The height adjustment capabilities of the Mega Comfort Star are worth noting as a special convenience advantage for the operator. It allows the lift to be expanded to a height of almost 13 feet (4m). Thanks to the feature, snow machines can easily operate in the area, allowing for the efficient preparation of lift trails.
