After the invention and the successful tests in the autumn of 1996 the Moving Carpet went into serial production at newly founded Sunkid GmbH for the winter season 1996/97 already. 14 systems were put into use that first winter (supplying all working group members, among other places, of course). They proved their worth excellently.
Powered by positive experiences there, the Moving Carpet was marketed internationally starting in its second year. More than 70 additional installations were taken into operation in 1997, among other places in the USA, Japan, New Zealand, and Australia. Bruckschlögl GmbH, managed by Max Bruckschlögl, played a particularly decisive role in the further development of Sunkid. The mechanical engineering company founded in 1889, specialised in the manufacture of ski lifts and material cable cars. It had already launched its own person conveyor belt in the year before Sunkid.
Rather than competing for the greatest possible share in the rapidly growing market, however, Max Bruckschlögl and Dieter Zimmermann chose to merge their companies in 1999 in order to combine their respective strengths (Bruckschlögl as an experienced mechanical engineer and Sunkid providing its international sales network).
Led by Max Bruckschlögl, the product was technically refined in the subsequent years. The corporate structure was boosted by founding subsidiaries in the USA (Star Lifts USA Inc.), in Switzerland (Borer Lift AG), and in France (Sunkid France SARL).
