Playable wooden letters complement the existing playground in Nendaz
As part of Switzerland’s largest ski area network (“Les 4 Vallées”), the resort town of Nendaz delights families in the winter with wide beginner slopes and specially designed children’s areas. In the summer, guests can enjoy a colorful program of activities and events, as well as a well-developed, family-friendly network of biking and hiking trails that invites visitors to explore the Valais mountain lakes and historic irrigation channels (“bisses”). Several playgrounds both on the mountain and in the valley provide variety and invite visitors to linger and let off steam.
The client, in collaboration with Borer Lift AG—which is responsible for the distribution and service of Sunkid products in Switzerland—has created a new playground attraction for the 2026 summer season. Six wooden letters, each just under four meters tall from the Wood’n’Fun product line, were installed at the existing “Playground at Ecluses.” These letters literally spell out the destination’s name in three dimensions in the village center, offering the perfect photo backdrop for hikers and strollers.
In addition, the wooden letters complement the existing play facilities: An “N” serves as a climbing wall with colorful handholds and footholds. The “E” features a platform easily accessible via a ladder, from which children can zip back down using a fireman’s pole. The “D” offers an ergonomically shaped lounging area where even adult companions can relax. The two single swings, installed as an extension of the letter “A,” provide child-friendly fun in the air. In addition, three horizontal bars of varying heights are mounted on the letter “Z”—suitable for every body size.
Borer Lift AG would like to express its gratitude for the continuation of its long-standing, trusting business relationship with Destination Nendaz through this summer project, following the recent commissioning of a multifunctional duplex system at the “Tracouet” mountain station in December 2024.
