"Gamechanger" project includes modern Type N conveyor belt
Germany's first landing bag facility was opened in September 2024 at Snowboard Germany's national base, the CJD Christophorus Schools Berchtesgaden in Schönau am Königssee. A new, custom-made Sunkid Moving Carpet is used as a feeder. This ensures the desired utilization of the facility and as many training jumps as possible for freestyle athletes.
At the opening of the landing bag facility, Andreas Scheid, Sports Director of Snowboard Germany, spoke of a "game changer for freestyle sports in Germany". The new facility would give athletes the opportunity to work on their tricks almost all year round alongside athletics and trampoline training.
Located right next to the trampoline hall and the skate park of the elite school of sport, the Bag Jump is within walking distance of the boarding school for all young athletes. A 124-metre-long Sunkid Moving Carpet - with a maximum gradient of 48 percent - is available for the safe ascent of big air, slopestyle and halfpipe athletes and their sports equipment. It should be noted here that such extraordinarily steep facilities are only suitable for use by top athletes.
The latest generation "Type N" conveyor belt guarantees a capacity of 500 people per hour and ensures a comfortable ride up the Dry Slope hill. The tried-and-tested Blue Eye belt surface offers a secure grip, regardless of whether you are wearing ski boots or snowboard boots. Further customer requirements were met with a jumbo drive station and reversing system (power: 11 kW) as well as the modern i-CONTROL control system with different access rights for four user groups.
